Dr. Liat Graber approaches therapy with a sustained air of collaboration and warmth. With all of her clients, Dr. Graber strives to build a supportive alliance that can serve as a foundation for therapeutic work. Dr. Graber works from an integrative theoretical framework, attending to relational and attachment themes while also drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy conceptualization and methodology as clinically indicated. Dr. Graber comes to clinical work with the awareness that no two individuals or set of problems are exactly alike, and thus maintains an attitude of openness and creativity in tailoring therapeutic treatment to best serve the specific needs of any given client.
Dr. Graber received her PhD in clinical psychology from Columbia University, where she studied clients’ internal representations of their psychotherapists. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Pleasantville Cottage School residential treatment center, treating adolescents and young adults who have experienced complex trauma and other serious mental illnesses. She has also held positions at the Recognition and Prevention Program at Zucker Hillside Hospital of Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Cohen’s Children’s Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, and the Dean Hope Center for Educational and Psychological Services at Columbia University. She has received extensive training in the treatment of depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD and Complex PTSD, and psychotic disorders, as well as interpersonal, educational, and adjustment challenges, among clients ranging the developmental lifespan.
